The absolute highlight of our Vietnam holiday!!
We only had time to take a single day trip to from Hanoi to Halong Bay, and our hotel recommended 3 different options – one budget, one mid range, and Jadesails, being higher end. In looking at the inclusions and the itinerary, Jadesails appeared a clear winner, despite costing significantly more.

Needless to say we were pleasantly surprised when the driver arrived at our hotel perfectly on time to collect us and showed us to his very comfortable van. The ride to the marina went quickly, the van had free wifi and water was provided. Others have complained of the stop at the pearl outlet, but there is absolutely nor pressure to buy, and it’s a good opportunity to take a toilet break before boarding the boat, so that once onboard you can just enjoy the experience.

Upon arrival at the marina, a short drive from the pearl outlet, we were shown aboard the boat with the lovely staff waving to us as we made our way on.

The boat is clearly one of the nicest craft on the bay, feeling very clean and looking very modern. The interior is airy and bright. We were shown to our table by the window, provided a welcome drink and wet towel, and given some information by our lovely guide, Nam, as the boat pulled out of the marina.

Within minutes we were amongst the beautiful scenery the area is so famous for, and pictures can no do it justice (but I’ve included some with this review anyway!)

Not long after setting sail, we are served the first of many courses for lunch. We thoroughly enjoyed every course, but felt there was too much food for us, and served too quickly!

Nikmati pemandangan indah taman nasional di sepanjang jalan desa, we got to try 3 different activities at 3 locations – being rowed through a cave into a beautiful bay, kayak, and swimming. Sailing on 24th February at the tail end of winter we were prepared for cool, misty weather, but instead were greeted with clear blue sunny skies and temperatures around 28 degrees! Perfect! It really added to the experience. When kayaking we managed to get ourselves quite wet! But to be able to paddle away from everyone a little and experience the space and quietness was quite special. As was jumping off the back of the boat for a swim in this beautiful water. It’s actually quite salty, so you float very easily. There is an outdoor shower at the rear of the boat to clean after your swim.

What was really nice, is they tried to keep us away from other boats and the more touristy parts of the bay, which helped with he feeling of serenity.

After all this we relaxed not he upper deck in the sun, while the spring roll demo was set up. The chef had already prepped the mixture, so really all we did was warp them, but it was still very much a fun experience. The spring rolls were then cooked and served as part of a bigger afternoon tea, which was unexpected. There was enough food that we didn’t end up needing any dinner!

Upon arriving back at the marina, we were quickly transferred back into he luxurious van and then back to Hanoi bang on time, after a perfect day!

Any negatives? The floating village was very small and we stopped quite far away and perhaps for little too long, but the information provided about the history was definitely interesting and informative.

And, the drinks onboard were very expensive by Vietnamese standards (about 5 times the price pay in Hanoi). Id expect them to be higher, but it felt a bit like price gouging.

In saying that, this cruise was the single best thing we did in Vietnam – a real highlight, a perfect relaxing day out, and we would encourage all of our friends to try it.

Day trip of Halong Bay with Jade sails
We booked our trip the day before. They were very responsive and prompt.

We were greeted in the morning with a very nice luxury shuttle which made the early morning pick up less rough. For a company that just opened up a few months ago the staff was well trained and extremely polite. They asked us before lunch of any dietary restrictions and made sure they were able to accommodate our allergies and vegan/vegetarian requirements.

Kayaking was amazing and so was the bamboo row boat tour. Did feel a little bad for the locals rowing our heavy butts across the lagoons through the caves.

Overall very satisfied with the experience and would love to come again in the summertime.

Full day Ha Long Bay tour
This was by far the highlight of our trip to Hanoi!! We got picked up from our hotel with a luxury vehicle and from the moment we stepped in the cruise ship we fwlt like we met some long time friends. Nam, the tour guide, was absolutely fantastic, he greeted us with a smile, explained us everything and by the end of our trip we had gained a new friend. The whole crew was so kind and helpful with anything we might wanted, everything was just as scheduled and as promised and even better. I can strongly recommend that you don’t miss that chance, it is an experience you will remember for a lifetime! Thank you for everything! 🙂

Best Ha Long Bay cruise
5 of us spent the day on this cruise with JadeSails through Smile Travel. It was a wonderful day. Nam was attentive and made sure all of us on the ship had a good time. It is a clean, new boat. The lunch was a six course feast. We learned how to make spring rolls and had a mid afternoon snack of spring rolls, fruit and sweets.
We kayaked and swam in Ha Long bay. All in all, this was a very worthwhile day. Highly recommended.

Wonderful day in Halong Bay
We had a great experience on the cruise with a small group of other passengers. The staff were hands off and let us relax while providing fun activities. The food was all delicious and the facilities were great. It felt we were able to fit a lot into our day. The scenery was of course gorgeous, as we learned so much about the surrounding area. Nam was an excellent tour guide and even sent us pictures of us that he took on his phone long after his work day was over. We would highly recommend.

This was definitely one of the greatest highlights of Vietnam! From beginning to end: an overall amazing experience. Jade Sails is very professional, kind staff, great activity program, safety was guaranteed, food was yummy and the boat was very beautiful. The tourguide (guy named Nam) was very dedicated and passionate about his work which I absolutely loved! It was such an unforgettable experience enjoying the sunset from sea while soaking in all the stunning surroundings. In my opinion definitely a must see and would recommend Jade Sails for sure.

Best day ever with Jade Sails!
We had the BEST experience with Jade Sails! Everything was fantastic, from the tour guides to the activities to the food. I absolutely loved rowing through caves to see the bay up close.

Most importantly, I thought Nam (the head tour guide) was one of the friendliest and kindest guides I’ve ever met. The guides all went out of their way for us, saving us some vegetarian spring rolls and even giving us detailed recommendations for the rest of our trip!

The boat itself was beautiful and comfortable. My only regret is not staying longer!

Beautiful tour on a little foggy weather
Everything was so perfect of this trip right from the start of with the very comfortable ride with limousine to very beautiful cruise and with a great tour guide and the beautiful cuisines and the activities like kayaking and swimming.

Nice Day on the Bay
Efficient operation, and clean, comfortable boat. The crew is very friendly and go out of their way to help. The cruise just flies by, with so many beautiful vistas and photo opportunities. The local boat ride and kayaking/swimming session was a nice break and fun. The only thing to be aware of is the surprise drinks tab at the end. ALL drinks, including coffee and tea are extra and about 3 times the restaurant price in Hanoi. They push the drinks all day and do not indicate the prices. Still, highly recommend.
